African used wooden bowl (large) #003
This African shea-butter bowl is hand-carved out of solid wood. The bowl was used to transport shea butter from the women who produce it in Eastern Senegal to the market in Dakar where the butter is sold. The bowl is decoratively carved to help identify it. It also has a side knob which is unusual. The bowl shows signs of usage with some interior staining of the stored shea butter. Great condition and beautiful patina. Made in Senegal.
Approximate dimensions: 12" in diameter at the mouth by 6” high.
