Traditional Ostrich Themed Mudcloth #040

Mudcloth is a traditional cloth from Mali in West Africa. The fabric is made from handspun cotton grown in local fields. It's handwoven into strips, sewn together and then dyed with fermented mud and other natural dyes. The fermented mud used to dye this cloth gives it its name.

This piece is approximately 42" by 60". It features golden browns, black and cream white colors in a fun ostrich themed print.

In Mali, mudcloth is rinsed to clean it. Detergents will cause the fabric to fade.

Mudcloth works great as a wall hanging, throw, home decoration, garments, decorative textile art or stretched on a frame.
