Mudcloth #034

Mudcloth is a traditional cloth from Mali, West Africa. Mud is used as one of the dyes, giving this unique fabric it's name. It is made from handspun cotton grown in local fields that is then handwoven into strips, sewn together, and dyed with fermented mud and other natural dyes.

This piece is approximately 45" by 66". In Mali, mudcloth is rinsed to clean it. Detergents will cause the fabric to fade.

Mudcloth works great as a throw, wall hanging or used in home decoration, garments, decorative textile art, or stretched on a frame.
