Ivory Coast Baule Brass Statue Set #001
This Baule brass statue set (Baule King and Queen) was handcrafted in Ivory Coast Africa using the 'lost-wax casting' method (See video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REutkpo3ors) which is both an ancient and quite primitive method. This set is composed by 4 brass pieces: The King the Queen and the King's chair and Queen's stool.
The Baule are one of the Akan peoples. They moved west to the Ivory Coast more than 200 years ago and adopted art traditions from their neighbors the Guro Senufo and Yaure peoples.
Each statue is approximately 9" High 3" Wide and 3" Deep including the chair/stool.
Each African mask is an "original" work of art individually crafted; no two are exactly alike and the original nature of tribal art will be reflected by variances from the African statues as shown. The statues in the photo are the statues you will receive.
