Ivory Coast Ubi wooden Mask (034)

This rare hand carved wooden Ubi mask comes from western Ivory Coast. The typical features of the Ubi facemasks include an extremely elongated face with a symmetrical the delicate nose the small carved lips and the two vertical rows of six ochre (cylindrical protrusions) colored "eyes" as well as small holes on each side of the nose.
Ubi or Grebo masks are normally associated with war and are very rare.
 
Approximately 28" Tall 9" Wide and 6" Deep.
