Ivory Coast Senufo wooden Statue (003)

The Senufo are an artistic people who live along the northernmost border of the Ivory Coast in western sub-saharan Africa. The Senufo have special castes for artists who are highly respected.
 
This statue a mother nursing her baby on her lap. It celebrates motherhood like many African sculptures.
